Heather Agyepong’s solo performance for Fuel Theatre, co-created with Gail Babb and Imogen Knight. The Body Remembers explores how trauma lives in the body — specifically for Black British women across generations — drawing on interviews and the therapeutic practice of Authentic Movement. Agyepong as The Mover; the audience as The Witness.

The video design centres on the body itself: close projections of different parts of Agyepong’s body running throughout the performance, accumulating toward the final image where her shadow joins a field of recorded others. The lighting holds the space for self-reflection, building toward the climax where the individual and the collective become inseparable. An immersive soundscape by Donato Wharton runs underneath all of it.
